--- title: "Book Covers and Illustrations for Your Novel | Journzy" description: "Book cover design from brief to cover: illustrators and designers, or AI illustration on Author ($19/month, plus tax). The creator directory is free." url: "https://journzy.com/en/features/book-covers" language: "en" --- # Covers and illustrations for your book For book cover design, write a brief and send it to an illustrator or designer in the creator directory, or generate an AI illustration on the Author plan. You choose the final image for your novel's cover. ## Book cover design, from brief to cover A cover starts with a clear brief. Journzy walks you from that brief to the cover set on your book. You have three ways to get that image. - **A creator from the directory. **You write the brief and send it to a listed illustrator or designer. The directory is free. - **AI illustration. **On the Author plan, Journzy generates the image with AI. The illustration is only the image; the title and final choice are yours. - **Your own image. **If you already have a cover, you upload it. ## A directory of illustrators and designers Every illustrator and designer in the directory is reviewed before being listed. You choose someone who fits your book and send your brief. The directory is on the Free plan. ## Try AI illustration AI illustration is part of the Author plan: $19/month or $180/year, plus tax. The creator directory is on the Free plan. It never writes your text. ## Your cover in the EPUB The EPUB you export carries the cover you have set, whether you uploaded it or generated it with AI. The KDP-ready checks warn you if the image is smaller than 625 × 1000 pixels or if its ratio strays far from 1 to 1.6. If the cover is an illustration from Journzy's AI, the export asks you to mark images as AI-generated. For print, the full wrap cover with the spine is prepared separately. Journzy's PDF is the book interior. ## How it works 1. Pick a route: a creator from the directory, AI illustration, or your own image. 2. If you pick a creator, write the brief and send it. 3. If you pick AI, generate the illustration on the Author plan and review it. 4. Set the cover on your book and export the EPUB. ## Start with the brief The creator directory and the rest of the studio are on the Free plan. AI illustration is part of the Author plan.
