# Find plot holes and continuity errors before your readers do

To find plot holes in a novel, Journzy's continuity checker reads each scene against your story bible and shows the quote that proves every flag. It is part of the Author plan.

## A continuity checker that reads while you write

Forty characters, three timelines and nine hundred pages do not fit in anyone's memory. Journzy keeps the canon in your bible and checks each new scene against it. These are the continuity errors it catches:

- **Attributes.** Elena's hair is black in chapter 1 and “copper” here.
- **Relationships.** Marta and Diego broke up in chapter 12, and in this scene they act like a couple.
- **Places.** The house on the hill has two floors, and Marta climbs to a third.
- **Register.** In a Spanish manuscript, Marta has used the informal tú with Diego since chapter 5. If she switches back to the formal usted, Journzy asks whether the change is deliberate.

## Every flag comes with the quote that proves it

- **Continuity checks with evidence (Author).** Each flag shows the line from your manuscript and the bible fact it clashes with.
- **Each flag investigated across the manuscript (Author).** Journzy traces the fact through the whole manuscript, not just the scene that triggered the flag, so you can see where it was first established.
- **Internal fact checks against your References (Author).** Journzy compares what you write with the research notes you keep in References. It does not search the web or check outside facts.
- **Mark as intentional (Author).** An unreliable narrator, a lie or an arc that turns is your call. Every flag has an “It's intentional” button.

## Catch the contradiction before your reader does

You start on the Free plan, with the bible and the entries, and move to Author when you want continuity checks: $19/month or $180/year, plus tax.

## Journzy flags, you decide

Journzy's AI reads, compares and quotes. It never writes, rewrites or corrects your text. You fix the passage your own way or dismiss the flag. The cases in [continuity errors in famous novels](https://journzy.com/en/blog/continuity-errors-in-famous-novels) show why a second pair of eyes helps. If you prefer a manual pass, use our [manuscript continuity checklist](https://journzy.com/en/blog/manuscript-continuity-checklist).

## How it works

1. Build the entries in your bible, or import them from your manuscript. The bible is the canon.
2. Write. Each time a scene saves, Journzy reads it against the bible.
3. Open the flag. You see your line, the bible fact and where it was set.
4. Fix the text, or mark the flag as intentional.

## Frequently asked questions

Does Journzy correct my manuscript?

No. Journzy points to the passage and the bible entry that disagree, and you decide what to do. It does not change a word of your text.

Is the continuity check free?

The bible and its entries are on the Free plan. The continuity check is part of Author, at $19/month or $180/year, plus tax. You start on Free and switch plans whenever you like.

Does it check real-world facts, like historical dates?

It does not search the web. It compares your text with your bible and your References, which are the research notes you keep yourself.

Does it work in Spanish?

Yes. Journzy is native in Spanish and English. In Spanish, it treats a switch from the formal usted to the informal tú as a change in the relationship between two characters and asks whether it is deliberate.

What if the contradiction is intentional?

Mark the flag “It's intentional”. An unreliable narrator or a deliberate break is a literary device, and the last word is always yours.
