What Free includes
Free includes everything that runs on Journzy's own servers. It does not limit projects, books or characters, and it has no end date. You can write and finish a whole novel with it:
- Chapters with or without scenes, project-wide search, offline writing and real-time co-editing.
- A story bible with character and place sheets, aliases, relationships and facts that change over time.
- Worldbuilding with modules and interactive maps, and an outline with point of view, goal and plot lanes for each scene.
- Grammar, style and orthotypography, plus repetition, rhythm, cliché and voice lenses, in checks made for fiction.
- Revision history, beta readers with comments on the exact passage and a full project archive.
- DOCX and Markdown import, and export to DOCX, EPUB and print PDF.
Free does not include any feature that calls a paid AI provider. That is why the continuity check belongs to Author.
What Author adds
Author costs $19/month or $180/year, plus tax. Paying yearly comes to $15 a month. It adds every feature that calls an AI provider:
- Continuity checks with evidence: every scene is checked against your bible and every flag comes with the quote that proves it.
- Discoveries and bible extraction on import: each proposal comes with its quote, for you to accept or reject.
- Developmental diagnosis with a prioritized revision plan.
- Advanced AI review for grammar and style, and semantic search.
- The AI map editor, character portraits and the cover and illustration workflow.
The AI reads your manuscript and shows you the evidence. It never writes, rewrites or expands your text.
Audiobooks are a separate add-on
The audiobook is not part of any subscription. It is sold separately, and you see the price before you produce. The details are on the audiobooks page.
Taxes and billing
- Prices are in US dollars (USD).
- Tax is added at checkout, based on your country.
- You choose monthly or yearly payment, and you can switch between them.
- You cancel any time from the app.
Questions about pricing
Is the Free plan free forever?
Yes. Free never expires, and there is no trial period that ends. You keep using your bible, your manuscript and export for as long as you like.
Do I need an API key?
No. No Journzy plan asks for an API key. The AI in Author is included in the flat price, so you do not pay a provider for usage.
Is there a free trial of Author?
There is no trial period. The Free plan does that job: you use it with no time limit and move to Author when you need the AI checks.
What happens when I cancel Author?
Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you already paid for. You keep Author until then. After that your account moves to Free: the bible, the manuscript, the versions and export stay as they were, and the AI checks stop.
Can I switch between monthly and yearly?
Yes. Monthly to yearly applies right away, with a prorated adjustment. Yearly to monthly applies at the end of the period.
Do the prices include tax?
No. The $19 a month and $180 a year do not include tax. It is added at checkout, based on your country.
