A Sudowrite alternative that doesn't write for you

Journzy is a Sudowrite alternative for writers who want to write every word. Its AI generates no text. It checks your manuscript against your story bible for $19/month, or $0 on Free, with no credits.

What people ask for in a Sudowrite alternative

These are the usual reasons for leaving a tool that generates text. It is not a survey.

  • No generated text in the book. Sudowrite writes, rewrites, describes and expands. Some writers prefer a tool that cannot do that.
  • A price without credits. In Sudowrite, usage is measured in credits that are spent as you generate.
  • A free plan. Sudowrite offers a free trial with no card and has no permanent free plan.
  • A tool that is native in Spanish. Sudowrite says it supports 30+ languages, and its documentation warns that some features can fall back to English.

What Sudowrite's AI does, and what Journzy's AI does

Sudowrite's AI generates text with you. Write continues the scene, Describe adds sensory detail, Rewrite redoes it in another tone and Expand lengthens it. Story Engine proposes an outline and drafts from a premise.

Journzy's AI reads your manuscript. On Author, it compares every scene with your story bible and shows the quoted evidence for each flag. You can mark a flag as intentional. It cannot write, rewrite or expand your text.

What Sudowrite does well

If what you want is an AI that writes with you, Sudowrite is a very complete option:

  • It works out of the box: the models are included.
  • It has its own fiction model, Muse, and 30+ third-party models.
  • Story Engine guides a novel from the premise to the drafts.

Journzy does none of that by design. It is also a new product with a smaller community. If you want to co-write with an AI, Sudowrite is the right choice.

How to move your manuscript from Sudowrite to Journzy

  1. Save your manuscript as a Word (.docx) or Markdown file, or copy the text.
  2. Import it in write.journzy.com, or paste it.
  3. Check in the preview how the chapters and scenes were split. Journzy saves nothing until you confirm.
  4. On Free, build the bible by hand. On Author, bible extraction after the import proposes characters and places with their quote, and you decide.

You can use both tools at once. A more detailed comparison is in Journzy vs Sudowrite.
