What Sudowrite does well

Sudowrite is one of the most widely known AI writing tools, and at its own job it is very complete.

  • It writes with you. It continues the scene, describes with sensory detail, rewrites in another tone and expands.
  • Story Engine. This is its guided novel mode: you give it a premise, characters, genre and style, and it proposes an outline and drafts.
  • Muse and other models. It has its own model for fiction and 30+ third-party models.
  • It works out of the box. The AI is included, so you do not manage keys or providers.

What Journzy does well

  • It checks instead of writing. On Author, the AI compares every scene with your bible and shows the quote that proves the flag. You can mark it as intentional.
  • Your manuscript remains entirely yours. The AI has no path to write, rewrite or expand your text.
  • One flat price. Author costs $19 a month and there are no credits to watch.
  • A complete studio on Free. The bible, maps, outline, versions, beta readers, proofreading and export cost nothing.

What Journzy does not do

  • It does not generate text, whether a continuation or a rewrite. If you want an AI to draft with you, Sudowrite fits better.
  • It is a new product, with a smaller community.
  • The continuity check belongs to Author. The Free plan does not include it.

Sudowrite in Spanish: how well does it work?

Sudowrite says it supports 30+ languages, and you can write in Spanish with it. According to its documentation, which we checked in July 2026, some features can fall back to English unless you set the language. Journzy is native in Spanish (Spain) and English, and so are its grammar, style and typography checks.

Who should choose which

Choose Sudowrite if you:

  • want drafting speed and an AI that proposes the next scene;
  • find an AI useful for ideas, descriptions and rewrites on demand;
  • are comfortable with co-written text and usage credits.

Choose Journzy if you:

  • write every word yourself and want to say the text is yours;
  • have a long novel with a large cast, where continuity is the real risk;
  • want a flat price, or free, and no AI that writes.

You can also combine them. Draft with Sudowrite and check the manuscript in Journzy: the more text a machine produces, the more useful a second tool that watches for consistency. For more on the idea, read how to use AI on your novel without it writing it for you.

How to move from Sudowrite to Journzy

  1. Save your manuscript as a DOCX or Markdown file, or copy the text.
  2. Import it in write.journzy.com, or paste it.
  3. Check in the preview how the chapters and scenes were split. Journzy saves nothing until you confirm.
  4. Build your bible by hand on Free. On Author, bible extraction after the import proposes characters and places with their quote, and you decide.
